‘We first met Bucky at 6 weeks old at his breeder, where he immediately peed on both of our laps. We picked him up at 8 weeks old, and he peed on my lap immediately upon getting in the car to take him home.
He has always tried really hard to be friends with everyone he meets (dogs, people, cats, rabbits, birds, bees) but is obnoxious about it - he doesn't read "leave me alone" signals very well. This has led to lots of bites and swipes from dogs and cats, and a sting on the face from a bee he tried to make friends with.
Never deterred, he uses the attempts to bite and snap as a chance to be chased, and will egg other dogs on to annoy them into telling him off.’
‘Charli is a 1 year old boxer that melts everyone’s heart he meets. He is the most loving dog I’ve ever met. He has his boisterous moments but is a really big snuggle pot. He loves chilling alll day and night in the bed or couch wherever Mommy and Dad are. He loves the beach and every other dog he meets. He really comes alive when he has play dates with his furry friends.’
‘I got Al when he was a 10 week pup after starting a new job at Petbarn. He came at a sad/low time in my life and immediately brought life and light into my world again. He makes me smile everyday and I love coming home to him and seeing his face after a long day at work.
He loves going for runs at the park and being chased by other dogs (knowing that none of them will ever be able to catch him!). He is forever steeling my socks and you’ll always find a piece of my clothing in his bed!’
Dash is just a big goofy boy with such a big smile! I’ve had him since a puppy. He loves tug of war and hide and seek.
‘Fat George loves to sleep, eat peanut butter, butt scratches, tummy rubs and hanging with his mum!’
‘Bagpuss was adopted from a shelter... He was in a bad way from his last home and has needed quite a bit of medical treatment, including his nostrils widened and soft pallet reduced. He also has hypertrophic cardiomyopathy and can't get too hot or stressed. We joke that we were all smug when we got him on free adoption day, but within a few months spent $5000 on vet bills! (not so smug now!) Because of his nose issues he snores like an interstate truck driver.’
‘We adopted Kingston just over 1.5yrs ago from some acquaintances that couldn’t afford to look after him anymore. He is now a huge part of our lives and he comes everywhere with us (including work with me). At work we have a pile of post bags that he loves to jump on and then roll around in.’
‘We got Harvey at 8 weeks old and he completely stole my heart, he is the most loving little man with the most charming personality, we can't take him anywhere without getting stopped.
He has such a cheeky personality, he will deliberately go outside and do something he knows he is not allowed to so that someone will have to come out and play with him!’
‘Chester is a true terrier. He barks at everything that moves, chases my feet when I walk, goes out and 'does' the washing with mum, this means chasing the washing trolley and licking the clothesline.
He is a bit of a nutter, goes silly running up and down and in circles. He thinks hes tough but he is a big sook who is afraid of the wind and blowflies.’
‘Paddy is part-human, loves snuggling on the couch but is always happy for a walk and a play. Food is life.’
‘Maggie is a red x blue heeler, 4.5 months. She's very excitable, high energy, and a total goofball.
She goes a bit crazy around new people. You will be jumped on and licked to death and she might do an excited wee so maybe don't wear your favourite shoes.
We play tug and fetch games, have regular training sessions (working on commands like roll over, shake etc) and she LOVES water... and biting us. We joke that she's really a shark.’
‘I adopted Bailey from the Lost Dogs Home. I went to look at another dog but she had been reserved by a couple already. I was about to leave then out of the corner of my eye in the furthest cage was Bailey (formally Pippin!). He insisted I say hello and I was pretty much sold on him right away.’
‘Zeke loves going for walks and rides in the car. He has so much fun playing with other dogs and always has to stop and say hello to people and dogs alike.
He's good at doing tricks, such as roll over, beg up, talk, etc. He loves playing with his ball indoors but outdoors he'd rather be sniffing around and playing with other dogs. He isn't keen on the beach although he doesn't mind a nice warm bath.
We like to snuggle together on cold days... even on warm days, Zeke will try to burrow down underneath some blankets for comfort. He is playful, happy, cheeky and will often try get my attention when I'm busy by playing with something he shouldnt (like my slippers).
He loves coming to cafes with me and being spoilt with attention from passerbys. He loves to RUN! He is so dainty and elegant when he runs... in fact, he prances. He loves to run and jump - almost as though he is flying in the air - with absolute ease. when he's tired, he likes to sleep.. and he looks so cute sleeping, all curled up.
He loves playing with his toys, and has a million of them. Once he realises I am awake in the morning, the whole toy box comes out, one by one. First, it's his ball. Then, his rope toy. Next, his squeaky chicken (which I regret buying but he loves it!), until my bed is full of toys and I need to get out of bed because otherwise I'm rolling around in dog toys! His favourite toy is his rope tug toys and balls. He loves to play tug of war and fetch.’
‘I moved to Australia when I was 20 and 9 Year’s later I finally got my baby with me... Wally is the sweetest dog, not because I say so but because he really is. He is humble and adores humans. He doesn’t like to play with other dogs because he is scared and timid but he loves to go to the park and be around other doggies...
Wally isn’t just a dog he is my child and will always hold a very special part on my heart.’
‘Jess was picked up by a rescue in the pound with 4 of her newly born puppies. I got her from Farmdogz Rescue when she was 1 and her puppies were 10-12 weeks old.
Jess LOVES running through long grass. She also adores children. At the park she picks one dog and then follows it around.’
‘Our best friends sister had a litter of Frenchies, we knew from the moment he was born that the littlest male from the litter was going to be Frog. He is super chilled most the time but loves to instigate trouble with other dogs and razz them up and then walk away like he had nothing to do with any of it and has always been like that....His name is from Frog the lazy bulldog in McGyver who was a super dog who would help McGyver in a few of the old episodes for food. He also lives up to that name as he loves to randomly hop in the shower with you and loves the beach.’
Basil & Bernie
‘Basil and Bernie are two completely different dogs, but when they get together they are an unstoppable force of fluff. When they get really riled up, Bernie likes to climb side ways over Basil’s back and ride him round the house.
Basil is a little more relaxed and up for a good time. Bernie is super affectionate and wishes to fulfil his goal of putting his mouth inside your mouth. Basil loves tummy rubs, and is useless at catching things. Bernie is loud, and ball is life.
